Introduction
The
wise men of the world regret most for wasted time. This means that enormous
amounts of time and resources are usually wasted by the ignorant masses, even
without knowing it. For example, humanity know that God is in existence. But,
the number of those who know how to use His name is less than one percent (1%)
of the world population. Very bad, indeed.
The
Meaning Of Name
In
this world, we know that the name of a person is a verbal expression, which
represent the person and is equivalent to the person. Spiritually, we know that
the name of a thing, is the essence of that thing called. The name of a person
is equal to the personality referred to. In other words, and in spirit, the
name of something is equal to that something and is that thing. Everything and
its name are one: the form is the same thing as its name. For example, the
person who has never gone to an idol and stays in his house to pray to an idol
is as guilty as the person who goes to worship inside the idol’s shrine.
The
Name Of God Is God
When
a student is writing on a paper, the texture and shape of his hand is different
from the structure and feel of paper. Likewise, the pen is also different from
ink or writing. In spirit, the reality is quite different, because the hand is
spirit, the paper is spirit, the pen is spirit, the ink is spirit and the writing
or message is also spirit. Spirit is everywhere. The same fact is recorded in
the book of John:
In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2
He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and
without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:1-4
The
name of God is God. That is why the word of God is also God. In the sane vein,
when God said ‘let there be light,’ there was light. The light was from God and
the light was God.
God warned that people
must not take His name in vain. The moment you call God, He answers you,
immediately, even before you finish calling His name. therefore, do not play
with His name.
In
spirit, the name of something is the same as that thing. They are one.
Which
Names Of God To Call?
Some
people feel that calling the names of God as written in the scriptures are
enough. Others, who have studied the Hebrew Language, feel that only the Hebrew
names of God are relevant. They are fanatical (zealous) about it, and are quick
to change or rewrite any name of God that is not expressed in Hebrew. They
argue that Hebrew is the original language of the Israelites and that it is a
heavenly language.
The
fact is that language is a medium of expression and every natural language is a
gift of God to humanity. Therefore, every language is important, provided that
it is used for the good of humanity. By this is meant every language that is
not devilish in origin or usage. The names of God remain what they are, irrespective
of the language in which you call them.
Many
Hebrew scholars insist that only the Hebrew names of God should be used. Some
others are even advocating that everybody should learn Hebrew Language. About
which names of God to call, God said, “You were using several names to call me
before you learnt my Hebrew names. I shall continue to answer you, irrespective
of whichever name you use to call me.”
The
fact is that language should not be hindrance to the true worship of God, and
God does not discriminate. After all, it was God who gave humanity diverse
languages when He confused the people who were building the Tower of Babel. Besides,
God does not give a gift that is not good and perfect.
The
Spiritual Effect Of Calling A Name
The essence of a name is the divine empowerment it has. This divine empowerment
is very sensitive and responsive with immediate effect. Therefore, a name is
called to produce the following effects:
1.
Immediate attention
Attention of the person called is directed to the place or point of call.
2.
Immediate response
The person so called immediately answers the call.
3.
Immediate presence
The person so called immediately appears on the spot. That is how Jesus and
Holy Spirit appear at the point of your need.
4.
Immediate effect
On appearance, he performs, successfully, a particular task for which he is
empowered to do.
5.
Immediate solution
If somebody is about to get drown, and you call a good swimmer whose name is
“Swimmer,” immediately Swimmer appears, he knows what is wrong, jumps into the
river and delivers the person about to get drown.
6.
Immediate fitness
The call of a name makes the person called to be mentally alert, physically
fit, spiritually sound, skillfully competent. The call of a name is the call of
a spirit, necessitating complete spiritual empowerment.
Which
Language To Use?
Concerning
which language that should be used to address a particular set of people, God
said, “speak to them in their own native language”. A message that is not
understood, is like a gift given but not received.
Here
is a real life event that calls for the use of a language wherever it is native
mother tongue. A youth went on a seven-day early morning evangelism in a
locality. He was preaching in English language. He had done so for six days.
Then on the seventh day, the last day, an aged woman passed by him, while he
was preaching. The woman said to the boy, “Keep on speaking. You are doing a
good work, except that we do not understand what you are saying.” The woman
knew that the boy was preaching the gospel. The unfortunate thing was that the
seven-day evangelism was like wasted years, because people were hearing the
preaching without understanding it. “Speak to them in their own language,” says
the Almighty. In other words, God considers every language important, at least
to the native tribe.
The
Best Language To Use
Some
religions insist that a person must learn a particular language in order to be
recognized as a true devotee or member of a religion. That is why the catholic
church make Latin compulsory in their seminaries. The Moslems emphasis Arabic,
while Germany makes their language a pre-requisite for both social and business
relationship.
Though the learning of a
language is good, it is not compulsory to eternal life. The three keys to the
kingdom of heaven are Truth, Righteousness and Holiness, not language. The
time, efforts and resources spent in learning a new language by the laity
should be used to teach and practice Spiritual Science: Truth, Righteousness
and Holiness.
Areas
Of Application
You can call the name of God for personal
use. Also, you can call the name as in a group. You can apply it to your life,
home, company, office, place of work or establishments.
Use the names for the benefits of your
self, family, relations, loved ones, friends and well-wishers. Apply the name
when you pray for your town, state, nation or the world.
General
Usage
Call or sing the names in praises and
thanksgiving. When the name is mispronounced, provided that the
mispronunciation is not deliberate, or that you do not know the pronunciation,
God still accepts your prayers.
The Best
Method Of Application
The best mode of application is praying in
silence. Your silent prayers and thoughts sound like thunder and lightning in
the presence of God.
You can call, mention, mutter or shout the
name as the case may be. However, the best method is in silence.
In spirit, what matters are intention and
attention. Have good intention, and always pay attention to what you are doing
for God or in the name of God. Avoid praying to God, or serving Him, with
half-heartedness.
Necessary
Warning
You should know that all
powers do not belong to God. “Only the powers of the Holy Spirit belong to me,”
says the Lord. “As for the powers of darkness, they are not from me. And, I do
not concern myself with whatever they do in their kingdom.”
When
people ascribe all powers to God, they think that they are honouring God. No,
they are not honouring God. Instead, they are mixing up both holy and unholy
powers. That is bad and unacceptable.
The powers of darkness are not from God and do not belong to God. Even, God
does not make use of them.
For the names of God to
work when you call them, you must be living a holy life in truth and
righteousness. Do not call the name of God when you are joking, when you are
not serious, or when you are not ready to do what God says.
